You may well be aware that there has been a fair amount of negative press recently about the demise of the wedding gift company, Wrapit - and the sad repercussions for their customers. I'm very glad to be in a position to say that there is absolutely no possibility of anything similar happening to Wedding Presents Direct (WPD) as all lists registered with us are guaranteed.

The reasons for this are varied and complex, but in a nutshell:

• We (WPD) have been trading successfully for nearly 14 years and have steadily grown the business during that time without recourse to any external investment. Our reputation has spread through word of mouth and not through advertising; nor have we felt it necessary to open multiple retail outlets at great expense.
  
• WPD also trades as a partnership (the partners being myself and my wife). This makes us personally liable for all the debts of the company without being able to hide behind the limited liability status of a company director. Whilst this is a 'risk' on our side, it's a risk we are prepared to take in order to reassure brides, grooms and their guests of our commitment to them.
  
• Since May 2000 we have established a ring-fenced bank account into which all money received from guests goes. This money can not be used to pay off any creditors (in the unlikely event of there ever being any).
